Dream Amethyst Hand Carved Crystal Butterfly Set (4pcs)

The violet comes from iron in the quartz lattice, altered over geological time by natural radiation in the surrounding rock. Because that colour formed in layers as the crystal grew, cutting through it exposes banding that no two blocks share.

The difficulty in an animal figure is mass rather than detail: getting the shoulder, haunch and neck to carry weight convincingly while staying within the block the carver started from.
