Natural Amazonite Hand Carved Crystal Heart

A heart worked in amazonite. At 15 inches and 4 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.

Amazonite is a feldspar, not a quartz, and it behaves differently under the tool: it cleaves along flat internal planes instead of fracturing. The white streaking through the blue-green is a second feldspar grown into the first, which is why the pattern looks woven rather than banded.

A carved heart lives or dies on symmetry and on the cleanness of the cleft. There is no detail to distract the eye, so the stone's own pattern does all the work.
