A kylin worked in blue aventurine. At 7.2 inches and 1800 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.
Aventurine is quartzite carrying thousands of tiny platy inclusions, and the shimmer that moves across the surface comes from those flakes reflecting independently. The blue body colour sits behind the sparkle rather than in it.
Worked in the round from a single block, with the form chosen to suit what that block could give rather than imposed on it.
