7.5" Green Aventurine Hand Carved Crystal Buddha

A buddha worked in green aventurine. At 7.5 inches and 1640 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.

The green comes from fuchsite — a chromium mica — scattered in flakes through quartzite, and those same flakes throw the shifting glitter across the surface. The effect moves as you move, because each flake sits at its own angle.

Figure work asks for restraint — the face carries the whole piece, and overworking it is easier than underworking it. Drapery and hands are where the carving hours actually go.
