A penguin worked in chalcedony jasper. At 7.5 inches and 1640 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.
The warm honey and amber tones come from iron dispersed through the same cryptocrystalline quartz that makes blue chalcedony, which is why this stone shares that waxy lustre while reading completely differently in colour. It is translucent at the edges and grows solid toward the centre.
Worked in the round from a single block, with the form chosen to suit what that block could give rather than imposed on it.
