A kylin worked in green aventurine. At 6.7 inches and 1254 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.
The green comes from fuchsite — a chromium mica — scattered in flakes through quartzite, and those same flakes throw the shifting glitter across the surface. The effect moves as you move, because each flake sits at its own angle.
Worked in the round from a single block, with the form chosen to suit what that block could give rather than imposed on it.
