A white polar bear worked in ivory jade. At 6.2 inches and 961 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.
A pale cream-to-white stone sold under a jade trade name; mineralogically it sits closer to serpentine than to nephrite. It is softer than quartz and takes a smooth, slightly translucent finish that reads warm rather than glassy.
The difficulty in an animal figure is mass rather than detail: getting the shoulder, haunch and neck to carry weight convincingly while staying within the block the carver started from.
