A decorative storage candy bowl worked in rose quartz. At 8.7 inches and 3625 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.
Rose quartz owes its colour to microscopic mineral fibres threaded through the quartz, and those same fibres are what make it cloudy rather than clear. The pink is never even — it pools and thins across a block, so a carved surface shows drifts of stronger and weaker colour.
Hollowing stone is slower and riskier than shaping it — the wall has to stay even, and any flaw the block was hiding will find the thinnest point.
