A food tray fruit tray worked in nine dragon jade. At 10.8 inches it is among the larger pieces we carve.
Sold under a trade name rather than a mineralogical one, this stone earns the jade label through its toughness and the deep polish it accepts. The green and rust marbling is not applied to the surface; it continues through the block, which is why the pattern shifts wherever the carver cut deeper.
Worked in the round from a single block, with the form chosen to suit what that block could give rather than imposed on it.
